10 years ago we lost one of the greatest ultra cyclists the world has ever seen, Slovenian ultra racer and fan favorite, Jure Robic. In his career, Jure won the famous Race Across America 5 times and held the 24 hour road record amongst his other 150 podium finishes and 100 race victories. Before ultra cycling, Jure was the Slovenian National Road Champion and served in the Slovenian Army. On today's episode, we have the privilege of commemorating Jure's life with his former crew chief and longtime friend, Matjaz Planinsek, on the 10th anniversary of Jure's passing after a bicycle accident while training near his home. This is one for the history books. Thanks for tuning in! Let’s roll! 🚲💨

Episode Transcript

I've been an ultra-endurance athlete since 2011. Since then I've bicycled 3,000 miles across the USA to fight human trafficking, participated in the Race Across America (RAAM), ridden twice non-stop from San Jose to Los Angeles (450 miles) and once out-and-back (900 miles), and completed over 50 double centuries, earning me the title of youngest ultra cyclist ever to be inducted into the California Triple Crown Hall of Fame.
