In today's episode, we have a chat with a speedy ultra racer, Mark Christopherson. Mark has been an ultra-endurance cyclist since 2013 and to date has completed 40 double centuries in the California Triple Crown (CTC) series of races. Notably, Mark won first place in the 2017 CTC Stage Race, which included three of the most difficult double centuries in the series: Mulholland, Oceanside, and Terrible Two.

Mark has also competed in LoToJa (Logan, Utah to Jackson Hole, Wyoming) on two occasions.

Outside of road cycling, Mark also competes in Mountain Bike races, specifically the Over the Hump Mountain Bike Race Series in Silverado, California, largest mid-week mountain bike race in the country. Mark rides for Team Simple Green / Specialized / Rock-N-Road.

Episode Transcript

I've been an ultra-endurance athlete since 2011. Since then I've bicycled 3,000 miles across the USA to fight human trafficking, participated in the Race Across America (RAAM), ridden twice non-stop from San Jose to Los Angeles (450 miles) and once out-and-back (900 miles), and completed over 50 double centuries, earning me the title of youngest ultra cyclist ever to be inducted into the California Triple Crown Hall of Fame.
